Well, hello there!
I'm Melissa Joy Luddy: Illustrator, graphic designer, Art Teacher, and cardigan sweater enthusiast.
Born and raised on the shores of Lake Erie, I attended Lakeland Community College and earned my associates degree in Graphic design in 2014. After that, I set off for the wild unknown – otherwise known as the Cleveland Institute of Art – from whence I earned my BFA in illustration in 2018.
These days, I spend my time teaching art to K-12 students, working as a freelance artist, and wearing any number of figurative (and literal) hats!
I love crafting fantastical stories using using both tactile and digital media to create illustrations full of light and texture. I also enjoy applying those same techniques to create eye-catching and textural designs.
I've also been known to dabble in bookbinding, sewing, and printmaking (intaglio and wood-cut reliefs). In my free time, I enjoy reading, hanging out with trees, and exploring new ways to make messes and create cool things!
